Description:
David & I set up Ardunan Farm from scratch in 2007 on 24 acres we own in Strathblane. We now live here and farm full-time rearing our rare breed 'Oxford Sandy & Black' pigs, a flock of sheep, some chickens & ducks for meat and eggs and Christmas turkeys (which must be ordered by September each year). Thanks to your support and feedback we have increased our poultry production and now have a small constant supply of our delicious free-range chickens! The Food Assembly platform really fits the desire we've always had to supply, educate and connect with local people. Up until now we have been supplying some really great restaurants who love our produce, its provenance and the whole "story" behind our small farm....direct selling through our website or to local families has played a much smaller part due to the logistics of cataloging and storing our products and providing an instant supply and wide range when people wanted it. This year we started to establish a small market garden for veggies, herbs & small shrubs...our trials have been really good and we should have a wide range available in 2017. I enjoy baking breads (sour dough and focaccia are my specialities) and making preserves (look out for my yummy-but-seasonal Seville Orange marmalade in Febuary). I also take orders for my deliciously boozy, rich & fruity Christmas cakes in August/September. We grow potted Nordman Fir trees which we hope to tempt people to rent at Christmas time. We do all of this with help from some fantastic volunteers/ WWOOFers (worldwide opportunities on organic farms) who travel around learning how others grow food and rear animals...good fun! All of the meat products we offer at The Great British Food Hub is fast frozen on the day it is butchered. Visitors are welcome by appointment. We look forward to meeting you soon!
