My love of Sri Lanka started at 7 years of age when my mother took me to see a Sri Lankan dance group which filled me with wonder. It wasn’t until 2007 that I had the opportunity to go and live and work in Sri Lanka. It most certainly is the exotic island paradise – and more – that I had read about – lots of palm trees, friendly people, tropical waters … and incredible curries! sun beds next to the sea jars of spices and a coconut It didn’t take long before I was enjoying a variety of curries for breakfast, lunch and dinner! I visited and stayed with Sri Lankan families as well as living on my own. This gave me the opportunity to eat home-cooked meals as well as experimenting in my own kitchen… truly coconut spicy heaven! . After returning to the UK, I continued cooking Sri Lankan food and making up my own recipes. My children are half Sri Lankan so I also like to think that my curries will be a source of inspiration to them when they are older to explore their roots. These are based on my own, unique version of traditional Sri Lankan curries, which I hope you will love as much as my friends and family do. I received such wonderful feedback from everyone who has tasted my curries that it gave me the confidence to make my own curry powders and spice blends for sale. I hope you like them as much as I have enjoyed making them for you.
